Setting Up Attributes

  1. In the Stock menu, click Products (or press F8). The Stock Card opens on the Browse tab .
  2. In the Product box, type the product code, then click Search (or press Enter).
  3. Select an Item, then click OK. The Detail tab opens.
  4. Click Attributes.
  5. Click Set up. The Management/Set up window opens.
  6. Click Add.
  7. In the Name box, type a name for your attribute.
  8. From the Data Type list select the type of data that will define the attribute:
    • Date – a date
    • Number – whole number or decimal
    • Text – words define the attribute (however, consider using a list if you know what the attributes will be)
    • List – select from a list of possible values for the attribute. This could be a list of clothing sizes, or colour options.
      1. Click Edit List. A User Defined Fields window opens. You use this to define items for your list of possible attributes.
      2. Click Add.
      3. In the Value box, type a list item.
      4. In the Priority box, type a number relating to where you want the list item to appear in the list. The higher the number, the higher it is in the list.
      5. Click Confirm. Click Add to add further list items.
  9. In the Priority box type a number. The higher the priority, the higher the attribute's position in the list.
  10. Select Required if completing the attribute is mandatory.
  11. Select In use to use the attribute now, or clear to reserve it for use later.
  12. Click Confirm.
