Look and Feel
Horizon's look and feel can be changed by altering:
- Navigation Bar Style
- Styles
- Highlights and Backgrounds
- Skins
Navigation Bar Style
There are two types of navigation bar: navigation pane and explorer bar.
Navigation pane – the first level menus are displayed on each button. Click to reveal the second level menu.
Explorer bar – all menus are shown, but second level menus can be hidden by clicking the chevrons.
Style
The five styles change the overall look and feel of backgrounds and buttons. Office 2003 is our default, but many like the Flat style because buttons are flat in the latest Office applications.
Row Highlight and Background
Row Highlight – Some of the grid type lists in Horizon use an alternating horizontal stripe to let you track along the row. clGradientActiveCaption is the default. There are some features that will highlight a row in a different colour, so choosing the same Row highlight as that set for those features is not recommended.
Background – if you want a Fuchsia background, we won't judge, however, clGradientActiveCaption is the default, and cl3DLight is similar to Office's "Colorful" theme.
Document Interface
Single Document Interface (SDI) – a single active document is viewed. This is default and recommended.
Multiple Document Interface (MDI) – multiple documents can be viewed. However, losing track of where a document is in the interface can be a problem.
Win-Bar and Tabs
Win-bar and Tabs have moved from the toolbar to the look and feel window.
Win-bar – When selected, hovering over the taskbar in Windows 10 shows a preview of the window.
Tabs – opens each transaction on a tab at the foot of the screen. The gets very congested, so the default and recommended setting is to clear the option.
Skins
Skins do not work in our hosted environment, so the Skins tab is only shown to Horizon on-premises users. Click Use skins to select from the list of skins.
