Punch-Outs to HorizonWeb

Punch-outs to HorizonWeb are used by your customers to place orders using e-procurement systems.

What is a Punch-Out to HorizonWeb?

A punch-out to HorizonWeb allows a third party to open, authenticate with, and use HorizonWeb, returning an order to their website/application upon completion. E-procurement systems are a typical example. Typically used by medium to large sized businesses, e-procurement systems reduce the time it takes your customer to order, and standardizes the order process. They are then more likely to scale up the number of lines they purchase from you or make you a preferred supplier.

Punch-outs and punch-ins can be both be referred to as punch-outs. They all punch out from a system to another one.

Why Should I Use Punch-Outs to HorizonWeb?

It makes procurement easier for your customers and drives down their costs. They benefit from:

  • Approval workflows
  • Manageable assortment of preferred/approved suppliers
  • Track expenditure
  • Purchase order generation
  • Receiving of goods/services against a purchase/works order
  • Multiple levels of user access – several different types of user can place an order for an organization.
  • Budgeting tools.

You benefit from:

  • Being able to tender for new contracts. E-procurement integration is often a pre-requisite.

What Type of Punch-Out Should I Use?

HorizonWeb supports two types of punch-out:

  • cXML
  • OCI.

Your customer's e-procurement system will punch-out using either cXML or OCI.

cXML

CXML (Commerce eXtensible Markup Language) is a protocol designed for the communication of business documents. Some e-procurement systems that punch into HorizonWeb are:

  • Coupa
  • SAP Ariba
  • ProcureWizard
  • Jaggaer (formally SciQuest)
  • Oracle PeopleSoft eProcurement

and many, many more. One of the benefits of cXML being a published standard is that there is a choice of e-procurement solutions for your customers. We do not recommend one product over any other.

OCI

OCI is used by customers who use SAP as their e-procurement system. The order is sent from SAP, and will appear as a sales order originating from HorizonWeb .
