Business Types

Business Types can be allocated to traders. A list of types is included in your database, but other types can be created. A business type can have subtypes which are created in the lower pane.

Creating a Business Type

  1. On the Set-up menu, click Business Types.
  2. Check that the business type has not already been created. You can sort the business types by clicking on the column header.

  3. Click in the row above the list and type a new business type.
  4. Optionally, add an SIC code (external link) for the business type. Note that business subtypes do not have SIC codes, so if you need to use these codes in a report, each classification will need to be a business type, not a subtype.
  5. Click the green tick below the list.

Creating a Business Subtype

  1. Click a business type in the top pane.
  2. Click in the row above the subtype list and type a new business subtype.
  3. Click the green tick below the list.

The buttons below the list:

  • + – add a new type
  • - – delete the selected type
  • ✓ – confirm changes to the type
  • ✗ – cancel changes

Horizon users can be given access to Business Types in Define Security.
