Modify Nominal
You will want to modify the default nominal structure so that you can report on specific aspects of your business.
Add Nominal
You can add a nominal account below a heading. This can be done from the Tree View or the List.
- From the Nominal menu, click Nominal Ledger.
- Click the Tree View tab or the List tab. This is a display option – the functionality is the same.
- Click a nominal heading. Nominal headings are type H. The line will be highlighted.
- In the toolbar, click Add Nominal, or right-click the heading and click Add Nominal in the context menu. The Nominal window will open.
- The Heading list will contain the heading that you clicked on. Complete the following boxes:
- Code – it is recommended that the nominal codes follow the format XYZZ, where:
- X – level one heading
- Y – level two heading
- Z – a unique two digit number to complete the four digit code.
- ? – the nominal type where:
- H – Nominal Heading
- A – Profit and Loss
- B – Balance Sheet
- C – Control Account
- Descr – Description of the nominal heading or category, as you want it appear in the nominal structure and reports.
- Notes – optional notes.
- Allowed Trader types –
- Analysis –
- Unused –
- Summary Report –
- Swap Sign –
- Code – it is recommended that the nominal codes follow the format XYZZ, where:
- Click OK. After a nominal has been created, log out of Horizon and back in again before using your nominal.
Modify Nominal
A nominal heading or nominal account can be modified. Follow the steps above, clicking Modify Nominal instead of Add Nominal.
