Adding a Voucher Product

Voucher products are used in conjunction with Auto added lines to let your customers use voucher codes on HorizonWeb. They give your customer a set value discount. If you want to give a percentage discount, you also use an auto added line, but you use the %Goods box with a zero priced item code called (for instance) Discount. This means the percentage line will be labelled for your customers. This code should be Hide on Web and a service code.

If you would like your customers to be able to add vouchers to their HorizonWeb orders, you need to create a product for each voucher. You can add these vouchers to your own product catalogue, or to a catalogue set up to contain the vouchers. You must select Hide on Web on the item.

  1. On the Stock menu, click Products. The Stock Card will open on the Browse tab.
  2. Click Add. The Detail tab opens.
  3. Complete the mandatory boxes, including:
    • Code – a code, such as XMAS20, to uniquely identify the voucher. It will be typed by your customers, so should be easy to use, and can be useful for marketing.
    • Description – This description will be used in Horizon and HorizonWeb. It can be seen by your customers, so can be useful for marketing.
    • Retail – 0.00
    • Sell – a negative value, e.g. -20.00 for a £20 discount.
    • Trade – 0.00
    • Cost – the same negative value.
    • Default supplier – your company supplier
    • Lead catalogue – click your Voucher codes catalogue, or (if you're not using a voucher code catalogue) your Own products catalogue.
    • Range – Unclassified
    • Group – Unclassified L3
  4. Select Service.
  5. Click Confirm. An item is added to the lead catalogue, seen on the Catalogues tab.
  6. Right-click the item and (from the context menu) click Modify.
  7. Select:
    • Net priced – this will prevent the voucher being affected by contracts
    • Hide on web – stops the voucher from being searched for and added to a cart as a normal product.

Note: If you do not select Hide on web, your customers can search for the voucher on HorizonWeb, and add it to their carts as many times as they like. If you use a voucher codes catalogue, this should also be set as Hide on web, and provides a safety net.

  8. From the Supplier list, click your company trader.
  9. Click OK.
